黄钟 (a) is a conceptual piece for zero instruments, whose meaning I choose not to fix in words. (See a perusal version of the score on the right.) The first interpretation was provided by Score Follower on YouTube:

Since appearing on YouTube, the piece has inspired debate, along with “trolling” commentary. Although I reserve the right of not explaining, one can approach this piece via the following hints:

(1) the meaning of 黄钟 and its metaphysical resonance in ancient China

(2) the tuning of 黄钟 and its political role in anchoring orders across dynasties

(3) the instability of Truth

(4) music that is beyond Sound
